Hand painted Ban Chiang pottery (reproductions) from Udon Thani found at the OTOP fair.
Villagers uncovered the ancient pottery for years prior to an anthropology student stumbled upon some pottery. He sent some of the pottery to the museum and the Thai Fine Arts Department to determined if the ancient pottery could be of a civilization that have disappeared. The formal excavation started in 1967 and found the several graves dating back to the Bronze Age. Since then modern-day villagers learned that reproductions can supplement their income.
